Electrospun Carbon Nanofibers Decorated with Ag3PO4 Nanoparticles: Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalyst for the Photodegradation of Methylene Blue

For the first time, heterostructures of electrospun carbon nanofibers decorated with Ag3PO4 nanoparticles (Ag3PO4/CNFs) were successfully fabricated by combination simple and versatile electrospinning technique followed carbonization incorporation via colloidal precipitation synthesis approaches. The as-fabricated characterized FESEM EDS, XRD, TEM HRTEM, FTIR UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Experimental results revealed that heterostructure obtained approach (Ag3PO4/CNFs-1) was small-sized (~20 nm) uniformly distributed on surface CNFs without any evident agglomeration, while in (Ag3PO4/CNFs-2), agglomerated bigger-sized nanoparticles. visible-light-driven photocatalytic investigation signified Ag3PO4/CNFs-1 can exhibit higher performance towards photodegradation MB dye solution compared to Ag3PO4/CNFs-2 heterostructure, which could be attributed synergistic effect between uniformity small size serve as a conductivity network prevent recombination charge carriers. Moreover, mechanism activity as-prepared is proposed.
